Karmini Pillay

MW || Platinum Associate

Karmini is a senior lecturer at the School of Law, University of Witwatersrand; and a trainer in the Labour Dispute Resolution Programme for the CCMA at the Mandela Institute. She joined the School of Law in 2004. She holds a Masters in Law degree specialising in Labour Law, particularly in Employment Equity Law.

Karmini Pillay was a Visiting Research Scholar at Harvard Law School (Boston, US) in 2009 and the World Trade Institute (Bern, Switzerland) in 2011. She has undertaken research for Save the Children (Sweden), Thandanani Children's Foundation, the African AIDS Vaccine Programme, the African Child Policy Forum, UNICEF, and Project 25 for the South African Law Reform Commission. She is an organising committee member for the Annual Labour Law Conference on behalf of Wits University in partnership with the University of Cape Town and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She was recently invited to present on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace at the 30 th Annual Labour Law conference in 2017, at the 31 st Annual Labour Law conference in 2018 and at the South African Society of Labour Law (SASLAW) conference in 2018 respectively. She has also been conducting training workshops on this topic for human resources and employee relations staff in the private sector, the most recent being for African Rainbow
Minerals.
